St. Thomas Eye Hospital Provides Free Retina Detachment Surgeries

Working in collaboration with the Tuft’s University Medical Centre in Boston, USA, Unite for Sight, a non-profit organization based in Connecticut, USA and with support from Alcon Foundation, St. Thomas Eye Hospital has provided free and highly subsidized surgeries to Ghanaians who are unable to pay for their surgeries. This is through a collaborative work initiated by Prof. Jay S. Duker of Tufts and Dr. Michael E. Gyasi, a retina fellow and the Hospital’s president. Two retina surgeons from the University, Dr. Anthony Joseph and Dr. Courtney Crawford joined Dr. Gyasi to provide more than 40 retina consultations and over 20 retina surgeries
