As we observe World Glaucoma Week, St. Thomas Eye Hospital is proud to stand at the forefront of eye health...
Exciting News from St. Thomas Eye Hospital!
We are thrilled to announce our partnership with @Relief for Human Suffering Foundation, reigniting our commitment to transforming lives through sight restoration and community empowerment.
Since 2010, we’ve been dedicated to providing free surgeries to those in extreme poverty in southern Ghana, thanks to Unite for Site. However, due to the challenges posed by Ebola and Covid-19, our efforts slowed down after one more year.
Now, our partnership with R4HSF is revitalizing our mission. In just one month (August), we performed surgeries on 19 patients. Fast forward to September, and we’ve successfully operated on 32 patients who are back to their villages living a more quality and productive life through the gift of sight restoration!
The month of October was dedicated to doing renovations, training and workshops and we are back into full swing in Novemeber. Last thursday (Novemebr 2, 2023), I was in theatre to join one of our younger specialists who was overwhelmed after late arrival of patients who had travelled more than 6 hours to receive free sight restoration surgeries.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone supporting this noble cause, as together, we’re combating poverty and enhancing the quality of life through the gift of sight. You may view some of our touching photos from our November 2 surgeries and also follow us on this impactful journey!
